What is Team CASA?
Team CASA is people of all shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels who walk or run at their own pace in various events in the Big Sur International Marathon to raise money for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Santa Cruz County.

How does it work?
CASA purchases registrations for selected BSIM events and offers them to participants at cost. The Team
CASA participant provides CASA with a minimum of 25 names with addresses of friends, family or other potential sponsors. CASA sends each a letter requesting a tax--deductable sponsorship donation of any size, on behalf of the Team CASA participant. The goal is for each participant to raise $500 in sponsorship donations. Participants may also choose to self-sponsor with a personal donation at the goal level. This is one of CASA's most important fundraiser's, bringing in more than $50,000 each year.

Do I have to ask people to sponsor me?
Unlike many other team fundraising events, Team CASA does the work for you. Team CASA sends a letter to your potential sponsors, and when someone makes a donation of any size to sponsor you, we acknowledge their tax-deductable donation with a thank you letter on your behalf. All sponsor information remains confidential. Give us your list - we do the work for you.
You will also have your own page on the Team CASA website that you can personalize with your photo and own words about why you support Team CASA. You will even be able to e-mail friends directly from your site. Your donors will be able to make their pledges directly from your web page, send you words of encouragement and stay updated on your progress.

How does this help CASA's children?
CASA raises nearly 75% of its budget from community fundraising. The BSIM is CASA's second biggest fundraiser of the year, bringing in more than $50,000 to serve children living in the county's foster care system because of parental abuse or neglect.
