  • SCHOLARSHIP: Summer doesn’t require any commitment, so it’s a good time for children to explore if dance is really for them or just participate in it for fun. The person to contact is the Director, Ruth Fisher at 831-475-5032. Located at 810 Bay Avenue in Capitola.

  • SCHOLARSHIPS: Owner Mike Laird is willing and able to provide scholarships to youth who are interested in taking martial arts classes. He will pay for lessons and uniforms, all that is required is a waiver signed by a legal guardian. To get your child signed up for classes, contact Mike at mikelairdg@gmail.com.   • 50% DISCOUNT: Tom Davis (the owner) is a foster parent, and is very familiar with the foster care system and the CASA organization. Scholarships for classes and camps are available to low-income families and Tom welcomes scholarship applications from foster families. They are open every day. Discreetly tell the management on duty that you are with CASA.

  • 60% DISCOUNT: To get your CASA child signed up for swim lessons, discreetly tell the staff that you are with CASA.

  • FREE: For CASA Advocates and their kids to play during their slow hours. Surf City is a family friendly café and billiards room in downtown Santa Cruz. Please call first to make sure they don’t have a private party going on. To access the free billiards, discreetly tell the management on duty that you are with CASA. As always it is a good idea to have your Order of Assignment in your car in case someone asks to see it. You can stay after your game to play chess, checkers or board games.

  • FREE: Jimmy has connections with Bud Freitas, a professional surfer who works at Surf School Santa Cruz. He has committed to providing a free lesson for youth or a group lesson. He has other instructors that teach with him too. They have boards, wetsuits and meet folks at Pleasure Point area to paddle out on soft-top long boards. If your youth is interested in surfing, contact our Program Manager, Jimmy Cook at jimmy@casaofsantacruz.org to get set up!

  • FREE: Children ages 12 and up can go on their own, but children 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult — this could be their CASA or their caregiver. Contact Ana (ana@casaofsantacruz.org) to get registration information.
