Get to know Joseph and his CASA volunteer Larry in this powerful video from CASA of Santa Cruz County. Positive male role models are missing from the lives of so many children in foster care, and there is always a need for more men to become CASA volunteers and help make up for that gap.

It’s amazing how one caring, consistent adult can change the life of a child in foster care. As a (volunteer/supporter) at CASA, I’ve seen firsthand the impact a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) can have on a child who has been abused, neglected or abandoned. Can you volunteer 2-4 hours a week to change the life of a child? Please take a few minutes to watch and share this powerful video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hxMIm14g-M

Joseph never knew his dad. His mom died when Joseph was 12. Joseph’s aunt who took him in died shortly afterward, and Joseph was sent to live in a group home. He was an angry, traumatized young man. But when Joseph was 16, finally something good happened in his life: he met Larry, his Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). The result was life-changing – for both Joseph and Larry. Can you volunteer 2-4 hours a week to change the life of a child? Please take a few minutes to watch and share this powerful video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hxMIm14g-M

Children are waiting for someone like you. Please help CASA eliminate the waitlist of children, like Joseph, who need someone like Larry to walk with them.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hxMIm14g-M

CASA of Santa Cruz County serves over 250 children each year who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Over 50% of those children are boys, but less than 20% of our volunteers are men. Children in foster care frequently have no positive male role models in their lives. While men and women perform the duties of a Court Appointed Special Advocate equally well, there are many cases in which a child could particularly benefit from having a positive male influence in his life. Watch this powerful video and help CASA reach the goal of recruiting 20 male volunteers by November 1st. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hxMIm14g-M
