Scholarship Application: CASA of Santa Cruz County
Eligibility There are two requirements to be eligible for CASA of Santa Cruz County's Scholarship:
1) The applicant must be currently attending an educational program. Programs that qualify include college (at least 6 units per semester based on an annual review), vocational training, community colleges, professional credential programs, four-year universities, or other accredited educational pursuits. All applicants may reapply for up to five years.
2) The applicant must have experienced the foster care or juvenile justice system under the jurisdiction of Santa Cruz County. If the applicant lived or was placed in Santa Cruz County at any point during their system-involvement in the juvenile court, they are eligible.
Funding CASA of Santa Cruz County's scholarships are up to $1,000 per year for undergraduate students. Graduate students qualify for a scholarship of up to $2,000. The scholarship is paid directly to the applicant via check, not the university. The funds are not restricted; the use of the scholarship is at the applicants discretion to support their educational or vocational pursuits.
Proof of Acceptance and Enrollment Applicants must prove their acceptance and/or continued enrollment in their educational program by providing an up-to-date enrollment list or course schedule. High school seniors are eligible to apply and can list the accepting college(s) or programs of attendance.
Deadlines & Timelines: Scholarship applications are reviewed twice per year by a scholarship committee on December 1st and June 1st. Successful applicants will be notified mid-December and mid-June. There are two application periods per year: March 1st through May 31st at 11:59p.m. and September 1st through November 30th at 11:59p.m.
