Things To Do

CASA has many established partnerships with local organizations that provide free services or supplies for our youth. If there is something your youth could benefit form that is not on this list, please check in with your Advocate Supervisor.

  • Free instrument and online music lessons for youth in foster care.

  • Contact Cakes with Care for a free custom-made cake for your CASA child’s birthday. The director is a dear friend of CASA, a volunteer and likes CASA kids to get extra special cakes, so be sure to mention your child is a CASA! Contact cakes with Care at (831)296-CAKE(2253). Email: cakeswithcare@gmail.com. Website: https://www.cakeswithcare.org/

  • Birthday Gifts

Be sure to check out the Birthday Closet at CASA or check in with your Supervisor to see if any gift cards are available to get your child/youth a gift.

  • Free Bikes for Kids under 15

    THE BIKE CHURCH:
Each child is entitled to one free bike per year. Contact the Bike Church to see if they have a bike suitable for your youth. Keep in mind that supply is somewhat erratic and bike condition is unpredictable. They are all volunteer mechanics and can repair the bikes (for the younger kids) with some notice. The older teens need to contribute something toward their bikes in terms of time or working on the bike themselves. Email: thebikechurch@gmail.com. Website: http://bikechurch.santacruzhub.org/

    THE BIKE SHACK:
Similar to the Bike Church, the Bike Shack also runs off of donations of bikes, and therefore their supply varies as well. If your youth is looking for a bike, contact Lorenzo at 831-296-0326 or by emailing elbikeshack@gmail.com.

ALL CHILDREN WHO GET BIKES NEED HELMETS. Contact Ana (ana@casaofsantacruz.org) to discuss getting a helmet for your youth.

  • Free Bikes for Older Youth

Cyclists for Cultural Exchange typically donates mountain bikes to 10-20 CASA older youth. Let your Supervisor know if your youth needs a bike. Emails will also go out when bikes are available.

  • FREE: local organization that leads free bike rides and provide the bikes, gloves and helmets all for free! The minimum age to participate would be around 7-8 years old, depending on riding ability. Contact: Kym Lacrosse, call or email at 831-234-2046 or kymberlylacrosse@gmail.com
Trips for Kids is an international organization serving over 79,000 at-risk youth since 1988 through mountain bike rides and Earn-A-Bike programs. The Santa Cruz County chapter is looking to make a positive impact in the lives of underserved young people. We feel that once we have kids join us on our rides they will discover the joy of being on a bike and all the resulting benefits including self confidence, camaraderie, environmental awareness and of course, exercise!
