Volunteer Graduation and Swearing In
The culmination of the weeks of training that the new class of Advocates has completed. The morning (8:15 to 12pm) is a CLOSED court session that only Advocates may attend.
The afternoon session (the Mock Hearing and Swearing-In of Advocates from 12-2pm) is open to visitors. CASA staff and the dependency court judge and staff conduct "mock hearings" to show new Advocates and attendees what court is like for children and families. At the end of the hearings the new class of Advocates are sworn-in by the Dependency Court Judge as officers of the court.
Visitors should know that the mock trial start time will vary due to the actual court calendar that day. You must contact ana@casaofsantacruz.org to make arrangements for entrance to the court.
Parking is available in the 6-story parking lot of the court house. It is free for 2 hours and you must buy a parking permit if you will be there longer. The entrance to the lot is on Rodriguez Street.
