Hosting a party or gathering and asking for donations to CASA of Santa Cruz in lieu of gifts is a great way to fundraise for CASA and brings awareness to our organization to other members of the community. CASA can help by providing brochures, literature, or even a guest speaker for your guests to help introduce our organization.
Understandably, due to COVID, you might be holding off on in-person gatherings. Fortunately, it is relatively easy to host a birthday, tribute, or memorial fundraiser online with either GoFundMe or FaceBook.
Fundraise with GoFundMe
- Visit https://www.gofundme.com/start/charity-fundraising, and search for "Court Appointed Special Advocates of Santa Cruz County" EIN: 770305354
- Enter your contact information, a fundraising goal, timeline for fundraiser, a description of why you are fundraising for CASA, and a photo if you prefer
- GoFundMe will create your fundraising page and collect donations
- You promote the page to your friends and family by email and/or social media
- When fundraiser ends, GoFundMe will send CASA the donations directly. You don't need to do a thing.
Fundraising with FaceBook
When you start a nonprofit fundraiser on Facebook, 100% of the funds you raise go to the nonprofit. However, you must have a FaceBook account to do this.
- On your computer, login to Facebook.
- On the left, click Fundraisers. (If you don't see Fundraisers on the left, then click See more.) and click Raise money
- Select "CASA of Santa Cruz County" as the nonprofit you would like to fundraise for. CASA should appear in your list if you follow our page on FaceBook. Or you can enter "CASA of Santa Cruz County" in search.
- The goal amount of money you want to raise and the timeline
- You can add description of CASA and photos as well. You’ll see a screen pop up where you can invite your friends to donate to your fundraiser, share your fundraiser in your news feed, or donate to the fundraiser yourself.
- Your friends/family will donate online through FaceBook. No need for you to collect any money
- FaceBook will send CASA of Santa Cruz 100% of collected donations once the fundraiser is complete
